How to use Illustrator
About Illustrator
Illustrator is another software I have learned to use in class. In this section I learned to use this software to run the laser printer and/or the vinyl cutter, and potentially more machines. On this page I will show how I used the laser to cut out a key chain for my car keys. I will also include pictures of the other five widgets I have created, and are ready to print. I will also show how i applied my vinyl decal and provide pictures of my final key chain and decal.
Files
Below I have images of my laser and vinyl cutter files that I created using invnentor.
Laser
When setting up your object to cut out on the laser you are going to pull up your file on the UCP (universal control panel). This software controls the laser, meaning you can decide where you want to place your laser point in order to print out your object on your material. when you have centered and decided where to cut your object you will hit print. when you object is printing you must watch the whole process to make sure it does not light on fire.
Applying vinyl decal
First you will start by weeding your vinyl. To do this you will have to make sure you remove all extra pieces of vinyl and keeping all necessary pieces. once you have done this you are going to put your piece of vinyl on the application tape. Once you have done this you need to rub the vinyl to the application so it sticks to the tape. Once you do this you peel off the back and place it wherever intended. You will then peel off your application tape so the vinyl decal is stuck to wherever intended.
