Vinyl Cutter Individual Assignment
Design Process
I first wrote out all of my ideas and did some sketches in my designers notebook, which you can see on slide 1. Once I had my ideas I did a few image searches to help decide which image i wanted to cut out, which you can see on slides 2 and 3. Once I found my model photo, which is on slide 4, I copied it into illustrator. After I put it into illustrator I made it into 3 layers in order to cut it out in 3 colors, which you can see on slides 5, 6, and 7.

Cutting Process
Once my three layers where done and on a flash drive I brought them down to the computer and vinyl cutter, Which you can see on slide 1. I pulled up my file on illustrator and sent it to the program used to run the vinyl cutter, which you can see on slide 2. Once I loaded the color of my choice i began to cut out my 3 layers, Which you can see on slide 3.

Sticking my Decal
I started out by weeding my vinyl cut outs and putting my layers together. Once my layers were all together I put application tape over the decal, which you can see in slide 1. I then cut the edges and squeezed out all of the air bubbles , so the decal was ready to be stuck, which you can see on slide 2. I then brought the decal home and stuck it onto my computer, which you can see on slide 3.

Summary
While I was working on the vinyl cutter this rotation I gained a larger understanding of how to cut out and layer my vinyl decals. As I continued on throughout my rotation I became more and more efficient on the vinyl cutter. The main things I learned during this rotation was how to switch out colors and cut different layers on the vinyl cutter, how to make one image into three layer using illustrator, and paste layers onto each other to make one decal.
